A recent study of a friend, Jackie. Unfinished and still wet when this photo was taken, an underpainting really, but lately this is how I like to start.

This Spring I will be teaching Portrait Painting in Oils, Intermediate Figure Drawing and Intro to Oil Painting at Gage Academy of Art, Seattle WA www.gageacademy.org
We'll be working large scale in figure drawing and doing some pretty extended poses in the painting course. This semester the portrait class has been going over toned grounds and some set palettes of a practical and historical nature.
The intro to oil class will focus on still life subject matter but will get students stretching canvas and gessoing it and starting a painting the first day.
I'm, very much, looking forward to these classes!

This Winter I'll be teaching a class on self-portraiture and keeping a sketch diary with people who are homeless or in transitional housing through Path with Art http://www.pathwithart.org
I will also be teaching Portrait Painting on Saturday mornings and Figure Drawing on Wednesday evenings at Gage Academy http://www.gageacademy.org

A show of Drawings and some oil paintings of mine will be opening this Saturday, Oct 17th @ VAIN. 2018 1st Ave, Seattle, WA.
I rent my studio above the gallery so I will be having an open studio from 5-9pm that day.
I hope some friends come out and say hello and see the new work.
